What is Kybella?
KYBELLA® (deoxycholic acid) injection is the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment that is used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called, “double chin.” When injected into the fat beneath your chin, KYBELLA® causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat.

What is the process for Kybella?
The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness around the treatment area. These are temporary. There is little down time (unlike surgery).
Most patients require at least 2-3 treatments scheduled NO SOONER THAN 4 weeks apart, but up to 6 treatments may be required. The treatment takes less than 30 minutes per session for most patients.
Typically, we will apply a topical anesthetic cream about 30 minutes prior to the procedure. Immediately before starting the injections, we will use ice packs to further relieve any discomfort.
There is minimum down time, but some patients may experience considerable swelling in the area of the injections for a few days so work, travel and social schedules should be considered.
