Watch Out for These 3 Chronic Skin Conditions and Know When to Get Medical Help

June 22, 2017

Chronic skin conditions can be caused by a variety of things. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, more than 90% of the visual changes attributed to skin aging are caused by direct exposure to the sun. Although these skin conditions can affect anyone and range from minor to severe, each skin problem should still be immediately handled.

Beware of the following chronic skin conditions and consider visiting a professional if you are showing any signs.

Ingrown Hairs

Everyone can get ingrown hairs and they can cause discomfort from minor to severe irritation. Although these skin issues aren't too dangerous, they often lead to severe itching or even pain. Beware of ingrown hairs after you shave or wax any part of your body because the hairs will get curled during these processes and can grow back into your skin. Keep an eye out for red bumps on your skin that are similar to pimples in appearance.

Severe Acne

No one enjoys having acne on any part of their body. Whether it's a single pimple or severe breakouts on large areas of your skin, acne can cause bodily stress unlike anything else. Try to keep your skin as clean as possible to prevent regular acne breakouts and talk to a professional if your acne issues become too frequent and severe.

Psoriasis

If you have any marks on your skin that resemble psoriasis, you should seek professional attention and find out about potential treatments. Keep an eye out for thick red patches of skin on your torso, limbs, scalp, and face; white pustules in the infected areas; and red plaque covering large areas of the body.

Don't let these chronic skin conditions continue to cause you pain, stress, or any physical, mental, or emotional issues. If you have any severe skin damage, get professional medical attention right away. If you want to learn more about any of these conditions or how to treat them, contact Allure Laser & Medical Spa today.
