SKIN CONDITIONS
Sensitive Skin

Sensitive skin may not be a visibly detected diagnosis with a scientific description, but a self-defined, perceived problem in some cases. Patients will use the term to express their intolerance to skin products or environmental factors. The intolerance may stem from a variety of causes, such as an underlying skin disorder, an allergy to or objective irritation from a specific product, or sensory irritation causing an unpleasant sensation during application of a product. The first step is to evaluate the patient for underlying skin disorders, such as atopic dermatitis, rosacea, and eczema.
